Costa Rica

NoWaronVenezuela Costa Rica protested in front of the US embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica on Feb. 23 joining the groups around the world who protested a possible invasion of Venezuela by the United States. The Friends Peace Center called its members and like minded groups, such as the Committee in Solidarity with Venezuela, to participate.

There was an open mic and no holds barred. Speakers mentioned the invasion and support for many wars in Central America during the 80s and 90s, and the bogus war on Iraq since 1991. Venezuela could suffer a similar war only because of its petroleum reserves which are touted to be the largest in the world.

It was said that the US is not interested in the poverty in Venezuela - much of which is due to US pressures - as $30,000,000 of aid money is withheld, and BILLIONS of Venezuelan assets are frozen in the United States, while trade sanctions have denied the import of food and medicines.

Our hearts are with the people of Venezuela as external forces eye their oil reserves, and the threat of a conflict in the whole region is very dangerous.

Madrid, Spain

Lisbon, Portugal

In Portugal, Solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela

Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution and the Venezuelan people was in force in the political and cultural event that took place on February 22nd in the "A Voz do Operário" (Workers Voice) hall in Lisbon.

The defense of Peace, sovereignty and independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the right of the people of Venezuela to decide their path - free from interference and threats of aggression, blackmail, sanctions and blockades - pulsated in a vibrant andheartfelt way, overcoming the distance that, after all, more than separating, unites the Portuguese people to the Venezuelan people.

In this initiative of solidarity, Ilda Figueiredo, of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) and Augusto Praça of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers - Intersindical Nacional (CGTP-IN), representing the dozens of Portuguese organizations involved, as well as the ambassadors of the Republic of Cuba, Mercedes Martínez, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Lucas Rincon Romero.

It was denounced in the initiative, the ongoing coup planned and executed by the USA against Venezuela and the Venezuelan people, through the staged self-proclamation of Guaidó as 'interim president', in fact a puppet created and handled by the Trump Administration. It was also denounced that the action of destabilization, interference and aggression of the United States aims to attack the affirmation of sovereignty by the Venezuelan people and to plunder their wealth.

It also denounced the provocation mounted around so-called "humanitarian aid", a genuine cover to promote interference and military aggression. It has also been pointed out that problems that affect Venezuela and its people have in their origin the US blockade and sanctions against the country, replicated by some other countries of the region and Europe.

Also criticized was the lamentable role assumed by the Portuguese Government in this process, becoming an active accomplice of the US coup, namely through the recognition of a so-called "interim president", in disrespect of the Venezuelan Constitution. A grave and shameful decision that is not only totally contrary to International Law and to the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, but also to the interests of the large Portuguese community in Venezuela.

Several artists made a point of expressing their solidarity with the Venezuelan people and their Revolution. El Sur, Freddy Locks, Jorge Rivotti, Sebastião Antunes and theduo Tiago Santos and Sofia Lisboa sang and delighted the participants with sounds of struggle, resistance and friendship,in the initiative of solidarity, presented by actor Fernando Lopes.

"Venezuela will win!", The slogan that sounded more than once, achieved in that session all its meaning: feeling thatthe victories of the Venezuelan people are also victories of the Portuguese people, for the paths they open and the example they constitute. We shall win!

Venceremos!

We, people in Jeju, demand to stop the militarization of Jeju.
